Please join Esther Productions Inc and Ms. Jonetta Rose Barras on May 20, 2017 at Potter's House for first in a series of Fatherless Daughters Speak Out providing an opportunity for girls between the ages of 13 and 17 to learn more about father absence and how they can overcome its negative consequences. They also will have the chance to tell their stories using expertly designed visual arts and performance poetry activities.

Join Bomani Armah & Joy Jones at THE FATHERLESS DAUGHTERS SPEAK OUT--April 14, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm at 1313 New York Ave. NW, Washington,DC
Joy is a gifted author, performer and educator with a strong interest in mental health. She has served as a key artist-healer with Esther Productions Inc's Fatherless Daughter Project for the past three years. Joy also has provided expressive therapy workshops for St. Elizabeths Hospital and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia in addition to serving as former Director of Community Relations for Psychiatric Institute of Washington. Currently, she works for DC Public Library and is the director of the arts organization, The Spoken Word. Bomani is a performance artist who first worked with fatherless daughters and Esther Productions Inc. more than a decade ago. He was the hit at that initial event, guiding participants in creating their own hip-hip song about their experience of father absence. Over the years, he has continued to wow adults and youth. Many know him for his Internet viral and BET music video hit "Read a Book.” He is the front man for his 7-piece afro-funk-rock-Go-Go-Hip-Hop band Immaletchufinish. Suffice to say Bomani brings a wealth of experiences and talents that will be used to inspire fatherless daughters, ages 13 to 17. They will be joined by Jonetta Rose Barras, the creator of The Fatherless Daughters Speak Out and author of the groundbreaking book “Whatever Happened to Daddy’s Little Girl?” . The event aims to allow teen girls between the ages of 13 and 17 to discuss their struggle with father absence, including how it may be affecting their lives at school, in their homes and in their communities. The day is filled with customized creative therapies, including games and special art projects. It begins with an opening ceremony that helps participants identify the key factors of the Fatherless Daughter/Woman Syndrome as codified by Jonetta Rose Barras in her best-selling book "Whatever Happened to daddy’s Little Girl?"
