SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR DISCOVERING ME…WITHOUT YOU:PERSONAL ESSAY CONTEST FOR FATHERLESS GIRLS AGES 14 through 17 with a $1,000 1ST PLACE CASH PRIZE AND MORE
Hundreds of thousands of teen girls struggle each year with the trauma of growing up without the presence of their biological fathers. That experience shapes their sense of self-worth; it guides their decision—good and bad; and it molds their determination and resilience.
Sometimes, however, challenges can empower. For two decades Esther Productions Inc. has been helping girls and women heal from the trauma of father absence while guiding them to self-empowerment and achieve self-actualization. DISCOVERING ME…WITHOUT YOU: A PERSONAL ESSAY CONTEST is a major part of that effort. There is no fee to participate in the contest. However, entrants must live and attend school in the DMV.
Girls between the ages of 14 and 17 are asked to tell their narrative of growing up without the daily presence of their fathers in their lives. Most important, each contestant is asked to reveal her story of self-discovery: how she has come to know her worth and value; how she has come to recognize her imperfections but also her strengths; and how she believes she can succeed in the world despite the challenge of fatherlessness.
